Bad smell in the car: where it comes from and how ozone treatment helps
Smells of tobacco, damp, pets or spoiled food in the interior are among the most common reasons people come to us. Here is where the smell comes from and how to get rid of it.
Why an air freshener does not help
The source of a persistent smell in a car is old organic dirt that has set deep in the seat upholstery and under the carpet. An air freshener only covers the smell for a while. When it wears off (usually in 1–2 weeks), the old smell comes back.
So first the dirt itself has to be removed, and only then the interior disinfected.
What ozone treatment is
Ozone treatment disinfects the interior with ozone. It helps remove odors and neutralize bacteria, viruses and mold. After the treatment the ozone fully clears in about 40 minutes.
Price: 500 UAH. Time: about an hour.
Ozone treatment is already included in the Full and Refresh cleaning packages, so if you choose one of them, you do not need to order it separately.
When ozone treatment alone is not enough
- Smell from dirt in the seats and carpet. Cleaning is needed: ozone treatment without it removes the smell only for a while, because its source stays in the interior.
- Mold. Mold removal costs from 1,500 UAH: we take apart interior parts, clean the affected parts and do ozone treatment. Difficult cases are assessed individually.
- Flooding or a leak. Cleaning after flooding costs from 7,000 UAH.
- Pet hair. Pet hair removal costs from 600 UAH.
What to choose
If the smell is faint and the interior is generally clean, ozone treatment is enough. If the smell is strong or kids and pets often ride in the car, choose the Full package: a complete interior cleaning including the trunk and ozone treatment.
